Gold Coast Sports this September

Sporting and fitness fans will be absolutely enthralled this September, as the warmer weather and sunshine brings with it a whole host of local sporting events as well as dedicated spots to enjoy national and international event viewing. Rugby World Cup at Finn Mccools Irish Pub

Saturday the 21st of September you can catch the Rugby World Cup where Australia takes on Fiji, and you can do it from one of the coolest joins on the coast. Pun most definitely intended! At Finn McCools located on Caville Avenue, you’ll find mouthwatering Irish fare and pub meals, a fantastic atmosphere, and grab a pint because they have Guinness on tap. There are big screens set up so you won’t miss a second of the game, and the locals really get into it. It’s a brilliant atmosphere to cosy up and settle in. 

Robbie Mcewan Granfondo

Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of September cycling and fitness enthusiasts can take part in the Flight Centre Robbie McEwan Granfondo. There are a variety of events for all ages and fitness levels, from the 2km Kids for Kids forest run through the Nerang National Park trails, through to the Grand Giro 130km ride. Enjoy experiencing the breathtaking Gold Coast Hinterland in this mass participation cycling event, or simply come and cheer on the competitors! 

Pink Ribbon Raceday

On the 21st of September the Gold Coast Turf Club presents the Birkbecks Jewellers Pink Ribbon Cup Raceday to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It’s the largest fundraiser raceday in Australia, and is set to be bigger and better than ever this year. This will be the 12th year that the event is on, and there is free main gate entry to those who are wearing pink. 

Unisport Nationals

33 different sporting competitions will take place from 22nd September to the 3rd of October at Lake Orr Parklands in Varsity Lakes. Students from 43 Unisport member universities within Australia will go head to head in the Div 1 competitions. Sports include basketball, athletics, marathon, surfing, swimming, cricket, triathlon and more. Get more information here. 

The Battleground Competition

This all day fitness competition will find the most well trained athletes competing through a variety of Crossfit and OCR challenges in Runaway Bay to take the title of the fittest team. The Battleground 2019 will take place initially at BLK Sport Performance Centre and then finish at Rewired Fitness. Register here.
